
Egorov Marat Fedorovich was born on 18 February 1923 in Sevastopol. On 1 August 1941 he voluntarily joined the Red Army. Took part in defending the Caucasus, liberation of the Ukraine, Belarus, Poland. Suffered a wound. Rewarded with 'Order of Francis Scarina', First Class 'Order of the Patriotic War', 'Order of the Red Star', Third Class 'Order of Glory'; Medal for Courage, for Martial Service, for Defending the Caucasus, for Liberation of Warsaw, for Victory over Germany and 15 more medals. Participated in the Victory Parade in Moscow in 1945. Finished a military school in 1946. Had served in the Soviet Army for 27 calendar years. Retired lieutenant-colonel. Graduated from the Journalistic faculty of the BSU. Worked as a military journalist in some military newspapers. Having retired performed as a special correspondent on Belarusian radio and TV.
In March 1972 at the 2nd All-Belarusian conference of the adherents of peace he was elected deputy chairman of Belarusian republican committee for assistance to the Soviet fund of peace. Since 1991 he's been the chairman of Belarusian fund of peace. He's a vice-president of the International association of the funds of peace, president of the International humanitarian non-government organization "Chernobyl - aid", deputy chairman of the International Union of Chernobyl initiatives. Took active participation in the creation in Belarus of the Association for the UNO assistance, Association of UNESCO clubs. M.F. Egorov spoke in the UNO, Europarliament, Senate of the USA, parliaments of Ireland and Israel, at the Congress of peace-loving forces in Paris, at the UNESCO Congress; was invited to the celebrations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and to the inahuration of the president of the USA Bill Clinton in 1993. He's a member of the Central council of the Union public chamber Belarus-Russia. Honorary citizen of Odessa and Irish town Trelli. Honoured Culture Worker of the BSSR, Honoured Journalist of the Journalist Union of the RB. M.Egorov has been with peacemaking missions to Afghanistan, Israel, Laos, Abkhazia, Nagornyj Karabach. He's favoured with the high title 'International ambassador of peace' for his many years' active peacemaking activity. Described as a 'Distinguished leader of the 20th century' and 'Man of the world 2000' by American biographical institute, rewarded with Medal of Honour, named 'Distinguished figure of the 20th century by the international biographical centre in Cambridge (Great Britain), inscribed in the list of 2000 outstanding intellectuals of the world, introduced into the encyclopedia 'Who is Who in the World'. Honoured with rewards from the World Council of peace, Soviet committee of the veterans of war, Chinese people's association for peace and disarmament, Soviet and Bulgarian committees in defense of peace, 'Convention for Polish-Belarusian mutual understanding', People's union of Germany for looking after military graves. In 2001 named 'Man of the year in Belarus' as a public figure. Doctor of Philosophy, professor, academician of the International academy of information technologies. Editor-in-chief of the newspaper 'Herald of Peace'.
